Project 1: Software Demonstration

Microsoft Word: How to Create an Automatic Table of Contents

For this project, I created a narrated screencast demonstrating how to create an automatic Table of Contents in Microsoft Word. I first prepared a sample Word document with multiple headings and subheadings to simulate a real report. I recorded my screen using Camtasia, ensuring that my cursor was visible so viewers could easily follow along. I then split the recording into clear sections, starting with an introduction and moving through the steps of applying Heading 1 and Heading 2 styles, and finally inserting the Table of Contents. During editing, I added Zoom & Pan to focus on key areas, callouts to emphasize important points, and optional fade transitions to make the video flow smoothly.

In addition, I included callouts that explained why heading styles are essential for generating the Table of Contents automatically. I also experimented with cursor effects, highlighting clicks to guide viewers’ attention. Throughout the process, I focused on making the instructions clear, concise, and easy for a beginner to follow. By combining narration, visual effects, and annotations, the screencast effectively demonstrated the steps and reinforced the learning goal, providing a professional and educational video tutorial.

Project 2: AI Screencast Guide

Synthesia Review

For this project, I focused on creating a screencast guide highlighting Synthesia, an AI tool for video content creation. I explored the application to understand its main features, including AI avatars, text-to-speech functionality, customizable backgrounds, branding options, and automatic closed captions. Using Camtasia, I planned and recorded a short video that demonstrates these features, emphasizing how they work and how users can interact with them. My goal was not to provide a step-by-step tutorial, but to reflect on the tool’s utility and showcase its potential for educational purposes. I also added captions and visual callouts in Camtasia to make the screencast clear and engaging for viewers.

In addition, I highlighted the educational value of Synthesia by explaining how it can help educators create professional, engaging, and accessible video content quickly. I included examples of how the AI avatars and automated features can support visual and auditory learning, while captions enhance accessibility. Finally, I uploaded the completed screencast to YouTube for easy embedding into my e-portfolio, ensuring it can be shared with others. Overall, this project allowed me to combine technical skills in video production with a reflective understanding of how AI tools can enhance educational content.
